Blog written by Celine
As I sit down to write my annual Ubiversary blog, I’m filled with gratitude for all those who I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with in the past three years at Ubisoft. To be surrounded by such talented people – within our studio, Ubisoft, and around the industry, as well – is truly a blessing!
Today marks three years since I took on the role of Managing Director at Ubisoft RedLynx here in Helsinki, and looking back, it’s been quite a journey. I’d like to take this moment to reflect on some of my most memorable moments, challenges, successes, and learnings during that time – while we don’t know what the future ahead of us brings, it is important to understand where you come from. I believe it might just make you that much more adaptable to what lies ahead.
From celebrating new titles to weathering the twists and turns of our ever-evolving industry, together, we’ve experienced a lot in the past year. This has certainly been one of the most rewarding yet challenging aspects of my journey, witnessing the growth and development of our team, through ups and downs. I also believe that in times like this, characterized by rapid change and the occasional turbulence, leadership is put to the test as well.
That’s also my promise as a leader, being committed to ongoing growth and development, continuously striving for enhanced leadership.
Recently, I’ve been especially engaged in ensuring all our teams are working towards the same direction, enabling us to bring our strategy to life. We want to make games for everyone, across genres and platforms, to further expand the reach of the amazing experiences and worlds we create. For me, our annual Future Session was undoubtedly the highlight of the year in terms of coming together around our purpose.
Ultimately, I believe our cross-platform approach allows us to bring more people together around a shared joy, which is quite an inspirational goal. With our teams working on all areas of this vision – mobile, PC, console, and tech – under the same roof, I think we are well positioned to take on the cross-platform future. That being said, I believe fostering a culture that allows us to navigate and excel in today’s cross-platform landscape requires a shift in how we lead.
As we look to the future, I’m filled with excitement for what lies ahead. With each passing year, I believe we grow stronger, wiser, more resilient, and more adaptive.
Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible, to innovate, to inspire, and to leave our mark on the ever-evolving landscape of the games industry.
As I bring this blog post to a close, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you – colleagues, partners, friends, and readers – you all make me a better leader every day. It’s been an incredible journey these past three years, and I’m grateful to have shared it with such an exceptional group of individuals. Here’s to many more years of growth, achievement, and adventure ahead – likely more talks and blogs like this as well, we will see!
